The SVO Ready suite includes four interactive, easily accessible online training courses for in-demand specialty vehicle operators. Each program is designed to enhance safety, boost employability, and support employers with certified, job-ready drivers.
This course equips professional drivers with the skills to operate safely in harsh winter conditions. From defensive driving and thorough vehicle inspections to advanced snowplowing techniques and road-sharing strategies, you’ll gain the knowledge needed to keep yourself — and others — safe. Built around the proven IMAGE approach to winter driving, this training prepares you to handle whatever the season throws your way.

Ambulance operation demands more than driving — it requires calm, control, and precision under pressure. This course helps paramedics sharpen their driving skills so they can respond safely and confidently. Learn defensive driving techniques, complete vital vehicle inspections, navigate traffic with authority, and arrive at incidents ready to provide care. With the IMAGE approach to ambulance driving, you’ll deliver patients safely while protecting yourself, your crew, and the community.

You’ll learn essential strategies for defensive riding, preparation, and road sharing — plus how to approach and arrive at incidents with confidence. Rooted in the IMAGE approach to safe riding, this training helps you stay sharp, reduce risks, and uphold the highest standards of motorcycle operation.

Transporting students is one of the most important responsibilities on the road. This course helps school bus operators build the skills and confidence needed to drive safely, professionally, and with care. You’ll cover defensive driving, vehicle inspections, road-sharing awareness, and student-specific procedures — all reinforced through the IMAGE approach to safe driving. Every trip becomes a safer journey when you’re prepared.

SVO Ready (SVO) is a suite of innovative online training programs spearheaded by the Canada Safety Council (CSC), designed to elevate safety standards for drivers (and employers) of specialty vehicles, including Winter Service Vehicles, School Buses, Ambulances, and Motorcycles in the Province of Ontario. Furthermore, the training will support jobseekers via employment centres in Ontario.
At this time, the training is being made available to employers and employment centres to share with their drivers and students. Individual drivers should discuss the training with their employer and encourage them to access the no-cost training, or find a training school that offers the training by contacting adoptionteam@bluedrop.com
Getting started is simple! Employers and employment centres in Ontario can start the registration process by submitting your information in the form on this page. You’ll then be contacted by our pilot Adoption team to set you up and discuss the process and available incentives for you and your drivers! You can also simply email us at adoptionteam@bluedrop.com
This Employment Ontario program is funded in part by the Government of Canada and the Government of Ontario.
As such, there is no cost for the training during the initial pilot phase (until March 31, 2026).
Qualifying is simple! Employers and employment centres in Ontario can get started and register drivers/students by filling out the registration form on this page. Once submitted, a member of the SVO Ready adoption team will contact you to review the particulars and confirm that your drivers/students are eligible (Ontario residents). Our adoption team will assist the organization in setting up a SkillsPass account, and they can then assign the course to selected learners. Once a learner completes the course, an EMT (email money transfer) will be sent directly to the learners email, which they used to create their account on SkillsPass by JA Accounting within 2-3 weeks of course completion. It’s that simple! Note: one honorarium per eligible driver, limited quantities available. The CSC reserves the right to end the honorarium participation program at any time without notice.

SVO Ready is intended to augment and elevate standard Canadian driver licensing. It offers drivers and prospective drivers an interactive and enriching upskilling opportunity that reinforces skills, teaches new ones, and allows for increased safety and confidence on the roadways.
No. This training can be taken prior to or after your Provincial Class-system driving requirements have been met, and license has been obtained. SVO is NOT a substitute for obtaining a Provincially endorsed Class drivers license.
No, drivers can complete the training at their own pace! However, we do recommend that drivers finish the training as soon as possible to maximize knowledge retention, and to make sure they earn their certificates fast! In addition, applicable honorariums are only valid while quantities last and for a limited time as outlined by the adoption team during employer set up. Be sure to check with the adoption team on set up and ensure your drivers complete the training in time to receive their honorariums.
Drivers simply sign in to their secure SkillsPass account that they will have created prior to starting the training- HERE. Then, click ‘start learning’ on the course tile in the ‘To Do’ section to continue training.
To access, view, or share your completed certificate, simply sign in to your secure portal account HERE. With SkillsPass, SVO learners also have the ability to share your credentials if needed. Furthermore, you can even download and print your certificate!
