Frequently Asked Questions

What is SVO Ready Online Training?

SVO Ready (SVO) is a suite of innovative online training programs spearheaded by the Canada Safety Council (CSC), designed to elevate safety standards for drivers (and employers) of specialty vehicles, including Winter Service Vehicles, School Buses, Ambulances, and Motorcycles in the Province of Ontario. Furthermore, the training will support jobseekers via employment centres in Ontario.

Can I register for the training as an individual driver?

At this time, the training is being made available to employers and employment centres to share with their drivers and students. Individual drivers should discuss the training with their employer and encourage them to access the no-cost training, or find a training school that offers the training by contacting adoptionteam@bluedrop.com

How do I get started?

Getting started is simple! Employers and employment centres in Ontario can start the registration process by submitting your information in the form on this page. You’ll then be contacted by our pilot Adoption  team to set you up and discuss the process and available incentives for you and your drivers! You can also simply email us at adoptionteam@bluedrop.com

How much does it cost?

This Employment Ontario program is funded in part by the Government of Canada and the Government of Ontario.

As such, there is no cost for the training during the initial pilot phase (until March 31, 2026).

How do I qualify for the $100 participation honorarium?

Qualifying is simple! Employers and employment centres in Ontario can get started and register drivers/students by filling out the registration form on this page. Once submitted, a member of the SVO Ready adoption team will contact you to review the particulars and confirm that your drivers/students are eligible (Ontario residents). Our adoption team will assist the organization in setting up a SkillsPass account, and they can then assign the course to selected learners. Once a learner completes the course, an EMT (email money transfer) will be sent directly to the learners email, which they used to create their account on SkillsPass by JA Accounting within 2-3 weeks of course completion. It’s that simple! Note: one honorarium per eligible driver, limited quantities available. The CSC reserves the right to end the honorarium participation program at any time without notice.

What languages is the course available in?

The course is available in English and French.

Who developed and endorsed the training?

SVO Ready was developed by the Canada Safety Council in conjunction with Bluedrop ISM’s expert eLearning solutions team, industry subject matter experts, and curated content on safe driving, regulations, and customer service.

How is it different than the Class license training?

SVO Ready is intended to augment and elevate standard Canadian driver licensing. It offers drivers and prospective drivers an interactive and enriching upskilling opportunity that reinforces skills, teaches new ones, and allows for increased safety and confidence on the roadways.

Do I need to have the relevant Class license to take the training?

No. This training can be taken prior to or after your Provincial Class-system driving requirements have been met, and license has been obtained. SVO is NOT a substitute for obtaining a Provincially endorsed Class drivers license.

Do you have to complete the course all at once?

No, drivers can complete the training at their own pace! However, we do recommend that drivers finish the training as soon as possible to maximize knowledge retention, and to make sure they earn their certificates fast! In addition, applicable honorariums are only valid while quantities last and for a limited time as outlined by the adoption team during employer set up. Be sure to check with the adoption team on set up and ensure your drivers complete the training in time to receive their honorariums.

How do I get back in to continue the training where I left off?

Drivers simply sign in to their secure SkillsPass account that they will have created prior to starting the training- HERE. Then, click ‘start learning’ on the course tile in the ‘To Do’ section to continue training.

How do I access my digital certificate once I complete my training?

To access, view, or share your completed certificate, simply sign in to your secure portal account HERE. With SkillsPass, SVO learners also have the ability to share your credentials if needed.   Furthermore, you can even download and print your certificate!

Is there a test?

There are knowledge checks and quizzes to test your knowledge throughout the various course modules.

Why is the training only being made available in Ontario?
